About Us
The
Association for Health and Wellness is a non-profit organization. Our
mission is to train instructors who would like to help save lives
in their communities by teaching others smoking cessation at no cost,
and various first aid courses at the lowest possible cost to make this
training as readily available and accessible as possible.
Smoking
and sudden injury are the direct cause of the vast majority of deaths.
Our goal is to help reduce those numbers significantly by teaching
people how to quit smoking permanently, and to equip the public with
the skills they need to help when injury and sudden illness occur
around them.
Our
15-step smoking cessation program is offered to anyone who asks at no
charge, and was started by our founder, David M. Bresnahan, in 1983.
Since then it has been used throughout the United States and in
countries around the world to help thousands quit smoking permanently.
It has an 85 percent success rate, and is based on behavior
modification. Participants must follow 15 specific steps each day for a
full week in order to eliminate their desire for tobacco.
The
first aid courses we provide offer certification through the Emergency
Care and Safety Institute with training approved by the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Emergency
Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Wilderness
Medical Society - four of the most respected names in injury,
illness, and emergency medical care. These first aid courses are
offered to the public at a lower cost than any other program provides,
and at cost to volunteers in non-profit groups in an effort to teach as
many people as possible how to save lives.
We are a Utah non-profit charity, and we have received 501 (c) 3 status from the IRS. Donations are tax deductible.
